Have you ever had to deal with someone in a mental health crisis?

Mental health issues are widespread (20-25% of people go through mental health issues). It can happen to anyone at any time.

It could be very frightening to notice signs of a mental health crisis in someone you care about, especially if it is your child. When a youth is talking about suicide or showing other signs of a mental health crisis, what can you do? Do you feel equipped to handle it?

Learn how Mental Health First Aid can help you, so you can be more confident in your ability to help your child or young adult and access professional help as needed.

Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis.

In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for helping someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

In this interview, Megan Boyle, the Director of Children’s Intensive Services at Compass Health and a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid trainer, shares how to support young people experiencing behavioral health challenges.
